OUR GIVRY
VILLAGE WINES

As with our blends, we care for our village cuvées with the same care and attention to the vines and the same gentle approach in the cellar as we do for our premier crus in order to help them reach their full potential. These wines represent less than 10% of our cultivated area, white and red combined. We choose not to vinify them by plot, instead we let them express the essence of the fruit and the purity of our grapes. Although perfectly suited for aging, these wines can also be enjoyed for their brightness while still young.

Red
Givry

Préface

This red Givry comes from the Pied de Chaume and Chanevarie vineyards on deep, east-facing soils at the foot of the slope. This cuvée is a pure, fruit-driven wine, concentrated and broad-shouldered but easy to drink. It’s aged without new barrels to preserve the sincerity of the berries. Juicy, fresh, and lively, Préface drinks well young, and also has the structure necessary to be kept for up to ten years in the cellar.

White
Givry

Prélude

As its name suggests, this white Givry is the first step toward something even greater. A cuvée made from Pied de Chaume, En Veau and small quantities of premier cru fruit, it’s aged mainly in stainless steel and, to a lesser extent, in used wooden barrels. In the glass, a subtle hint of chamomile, buttercup, yellow apple and ripe lemon. On the palate, a ripe but fresh wine carried by just the right amount of acidity and minerality, and finishing with a savoury, mouthwatering lift.
